Kurt and Jenny have been in the show pig business since 1995. It was growing up on his parents’ dairy farm, as well as
showing livestock in 4-H and FFA, that Kurt developed a lifelong passion for breeding purebred hogs.
After attending University of Wisconsin-Madison Farm and Industry Short Course, where he learned swine artificial insemination,
Kurt began breeding and selling show pigs. Starting with a few Duroc and Hampshire gilts purchased in the mid-1990’s, and adding Berkshires in 2008, the operation has now grown to 30 sows. The current sow herd are all ancestors of those original gilts purchased. All genetic improvement over the years has been through the careful selection of semen from well known boar studs.
We currently farrow twice a year, with gilts selected and retained as replacements from each year’s litters.
We prefer to sell primarily off the farm because this allows us to develop a personal relationship with our customers.
We can assist with selecting the right size and kind of pig, as well as offering advice about feeding, fitting and showing.
